Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. She currently works as a therapist at Seton Creek Consulting seeing clients age 13 and up.
Education: Kristen completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) in 2012 followed by her Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) in 2013, both at Aurora University.
During her BSW, she completed her field work experience in community mental health at Catholic Charities working with underprivileged and high-risk populations.
While in her MSW program, Kristen completed her internship at Hinsdale Hospital’s mental health outpatient program providing group therapy to adolescents and working with families in the program.
Experience: Upon graduating, Kristen started on as an employee of Catholic Charities continuing case management work primarily with the homeless population. While employed there, Kristen obtained her first licensure (LSW) in 2013.
In 2014, Kristen began working at Linden Oaks Hospital as an assessment and referral specialist in the intake department. In this role, she gained extensive experience working with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses doing crisis evaluations. After obtaining her full clinical licensure (LCSW) in 2016, she was promoted to the department charge where she remained for the next five years.
In 2021, she transitioned to full time private practice where her true passion lies.
Clinical Specialty: In private practice, she has been inspired by working one on one with clients and being part of their personal growth journey.
Kristen is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and is also DCFS Trauma Certified. She uses a variety of evidenced based treatment practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She enjoys tailoring treatment to meet each client's individual needs.
Kristen centers her clinical practice on empowering clients struggling with anxiety, depression and self-injury. She has a special interest in working with moms and clients going through life transitions.
She believes in meeting clients where they are at by supporting them in achieving their personal goals. She strives to create a safe space to process and move forward with skills to build and maintain healthy relationships. She focuses on building communication skills and empowering clients to have the confidence to foster productive positive relationships and build resilience.
Non-Clinical Life: Outside of being a therapist, Kristen loves spending time with her husband and daughter. She considers herself a crazy cat lady and is an avid reader. She also enjoys staying active (yoga and running), doing puzzles, listening to music, eating nachos, and spending time with friends. Those closest to her would describe her as a true Virgo - witty, reliable, supportive and kind.
